Who owns the Screen Time passcode?
When iOS asks you to create or enter a Screen Time passcode, that PIN is managed by Apple on the device — not by earn it!. The app cannot see, reset, or recover it.
How do kids earn minutes?
Kids complete tasks, then hand you the device. You approve with a quick parent gate check. Approved tasks add minutes to their budget. Managed apps unlock while minutes remain.
What is the parent gate?
Adult unlock and the parent portal require solving a short word math problem. That keeps kids from jumping into parent mode just by watching you type a number.
What if I delete earn it! and apps stay locked?
App locks from earn it! can remain after you delete the app. Use Settings → Screen Time on that device (you may need the Screen Time passcode) to turn restrictions off. While earn it! is installed, Adults → Unlock for adult use also clears earn it! locks.
Which device should authorize Screen Time?
Authorize Screen Time and pick managed apps on the child device. Shields follow the active child when minutes run out.
